Now this is an awesome idea for narrative adventure games in the vein of Telltale or Life is Strange - an anthology collection of stories connected by theme. The Dark Pictures comes from Until Dawn developer Supermassive Games and publisher Bandai Namco and begins next year on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

The first entry Man of Medan has also got a suitably creepy and cinematic trailer. Check it out.

“We are incredibly excited to announce the Dark Pictures Anthology and the first game in the series – Man of Medan,” said Pete Samuels, CEO for Supermassive Games and Executive Producer for The Dark Pictures. “With each title being a standalone game, we have the opportunity to create a unique horror experience every time, with new stories, settings, characters and cast. As a studio we have a passion to deliver powerful cinematic horror, and we can’t wait for players to experience these new games across PS4, XBOX and PC. We have a great partner in BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment and we look forward to working with them to help bring these terrifying tales to gamers everywhere.”

The first episode or entry, Man of Medan, follows a group of friends in search of a WWII-era shipwreck - and features that guy from Quantum Break. Jokes aside, the cinematic look of The Dark Pictures is impressive and we can't wait to see more.

Fingers crossed we get a sci-fi anthology series too.
