Blizzard's animated shorts for Overwatch have so far been excellent, so much so that the release of a new one is a mini-event in and of itself. And today the latest Overwatch short features an origin story of everyone's favourite pro-gamer in a mech suit D.Va. The action-packed story focuses on her own tireless efforts to protect South Korea from the next Omnic attack.
Check it out.
And in keeping with the MEKA theme the next location to come to competitive Overwatch is a Control map set in Busan - with three distinct locations, Sanctuary, Downtown, and MEKA Base. Here's a sizzle reel for the brand new map which is currently available to play via the Overwatch PTR.
Explore the serene setting of the Sanctuary, featuring an ancient temple, beautiful gardens, and historic architecture
Clash in the bustling metropolis of Downtown, where players will fight across a busy PC bang, flashy karaoke bar, and central light rail station… but watch out for the train!
Contest your position in the MEKA Base—home of South Korea’s frontline defense against the gwishin omnic attacks
In other Overwatch news the full game will be free-to-play this weekend from Friday, 24 August through 28 August AEST on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One - where the current Summer Games event is still going strong.
