Where in addition to introducing a new Skeleton Ship threat terrorising outposts the update also marks the arrival of the new Brigantine Ship designed for three-player crews. Very cool. The Cursed Sails campaign is a new story-driven quest that will have players do battle with Skeleton Ships in order to track down the source of the threat.
As with the recent giant shark Hungering Deep update the new threat will remain in the game once the campaign ends. One of the more interesting updates included in the DLC will be the Alliance system which will reward crews and ships for banding together to tackle challenges and goals.
Sea of Thieves is available on Windows 10 and Xbox One, our review of the launch version is here - where our main gripe was with the overall lack of meaningful content. Cursed Sails is another step in the right direction and with four more content packs dropping for free this year, Sea of Thieves is something that we'll be revisiting.
