In that we're a little confused. We thought Squadron 42, the single-player AAA sci-fi along the lines of Chris Roberts' classic Wing Commander series, was pretty far along. Featuring extensive motion capture with the likes of well-known actors Gary Oldman, Mark Hamill, John Rhys Davies, and Gillian Anderson. Filmed years ago. What we see here amounts to concept art for the enemy race, a few weapon models, and idle animations.
Idle animations of character models in software that are talked about extensively, in addition to the ability to look at a 3D object and rotate it with your mouse.
The glimpse of an actual environment at 8:30 looks impressive - but it's hard to swallow the statement that development is at a point where it can't really show anything without spoiling story. At this stage a sizzle reel of an environment, some ship-to-ship combat, and characters talking without audio or context should be ready to show.
Also as a cinematic single-player story, you kind of have to show something that sells that side of the project. Based on the above video, Squadron 42 looks to be at least two to three years from being in a playable state. For reference its original 2016/2017 release date was set over three years ago.
