There are remasters and remakes, and then there's Resident Evil 2 from Capcom. A complete rebuild from the ground up, re-designed, and re-imagined for modern audiences. But even then the over-the-shoulder camera is reminiscent of the excellent Resident Evil 4. This was one of the great surprise reveals at E3 this year, and it launches January 29, 2019.

In the video above you can clearly see the new level of detail and work put into not only recreating environments from the original, but also upping the scares and tension thanks to the wonderful and, well, creepy lighting. Resident Evil 2 follows the exploits of rookie police officer Leon Kennedy on his first day as part of the Raccoon City Police Department.
