It may not be the best in the series but as it brought Monkey Island into the brand new world of fully 3D gaming Escape from Monkey Island is still very much a solid LucasArts adventure. And now for the first time, it's available DRM-free via
GOG.com.
The fourth game in the series, Escape from Monkey Island launched in 2000 and as the first to use 3D graphics players controller protagonist Guybrush as opposed to pointing and clicking through 2D environments. Fun fact, it was the second and last game to be built on the GrimE engine which was created during the development of Grim Fandango. Development was led by veteran LucasArts designers Sean Clark and Michael Stemmle, whom worked on previous adventures Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and Sam & Max Hit the Road.
And for those that remember this is the one with the Mortal Kombat parody - Monkey Kombat. With all titles in the Monkey Island series now available to own digitally, you can also grab the
complete Monkey Island Saga at 50% off for $21.56 AUD via GOG.com.
