Still no release date or window, but we do know that it is running on the same Decima Engine that powered the excellent Horizon Zero Dawn. With that in mind, this is also the most coherent demonstration of Death Stranding so far - in that most of it looks like actual gameplay. Stealth mechanics, exploration, and so forth.
Still very much weird and odd, thanks to its depiction of what we assume are time-traveling monsters, floating ghosts of angelic beings, and baby-powered inter-dimensional scanning technology, Death Stranding is still completely fascinating.
From legendary game creator Hideo Kojima comes an all new, genre defining experience for the PlayStation 4. Besieged by death's tide at every turn, Sam Bridges must brave a world utterly transformed by the Death Stranding. Carrying the stranded remnants of the future in his hands, Sam embarks on a journey to reunite the shattered world one step at a time. What is the mystery of the Death Stranding? What will Sam discover on the road ahead? A genre defining gameplay experience holds these answers and more.
Even the description is slightly confusing, because we're not sure what genre this is defining. Even so, we're keen to find out - here's hoping that it somehow makes an appearance in 2019. Especially when you factor in that the above footage, according to Hideo Kojima, represents gameplay and is running on PlayStation 4 Pro hardware.
