Dropping the "of War", came the inevitable Gears 5 announcement at the Xbox E3 briefing early this morning. Although expected, it still impressed thanks to a look that feels a lot fresher than Gears of War 4 with new enemies, environments, and wonderful detail. Plus, a new focus. Also announced for PC, the XCOM-inspired Gears Tactics from UK studio Splash Damage.

Oh, and some sort of Funko Pop! collaboration, but who cares about that. Here's the impressive Gears 5 debut.

This time the story looks to be focusing more on the exploits of Kait in what is being described as the biggest Gears world ever created. Which, definitely comes through in the trailer. Truly wonderful looking locations. And creepy infestation-like enemies too.

No gameplay demonstration was given for Gears Tactics so we'll have to wait a bit longer for that.
