Realising the value of a lot of the THQ library of old, in those "we're still a functioning and risk-taking publisher" days, new custodians of said library, THQ Nordic, has seen fit to give open-mars high-destruction and action romp, Red Faction Guerilla, the remastered treatment. Or the re-MARS-tered treatment as they're calling it.

Our re-entry to the Red Planet takes place from July 3rd (not entirely sure about official dates for AU, but we'll go with that for now), and will be available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Now, this is a 2009 game, but that doesn't mean THQ Nordic has settled on a basic re-release, instead serving up a game with some seriously suped-up visuals, 4K support and more. Here's what you can expect:
  • Fully reworked graphics – Heavily reworked textures and graphic features adding for example specular maps
  • Improved shadow rendering
  • Improved Lighting
  • Shader & Postprocessing rework
  • Native 4k support for the finest up to date mars destruction experience ever
You can watch a full trailer for the re-Mars-tered version of Volition's classic, embedded below.

I remember having a lot of fun on the destruction challenges, could be worth revisiting!

I actually didn't mind the story, either. I'd be pretty happy if THQ Nordic dug in and looked at making a new entry in the series if they had the right studio behind it
