That will include land, air, and sea vehicles. Plus, traps and zombies. Called Blackout, the description points to the overall map size being 1,500 times bigger than the iconic Nuketown map from the Black Ops series. And as is the case with battle royale experiences a survival element includes scavenging for weapons and supplies.

Although we don't have gameplay footage the below teaser sets the scene for the new and exciting mode.



Which will include characters spanning the history of the Black Ops series and be playable both solo and in teams. The map itself will apparently feature iconic locations from popular maps and Black Ops locations too. Even though the same fast-paced combat is expected, in order to bring battle royale to Call of Duty several changes had to be made to the core Call of Duty tech to incorporate a larger scale experience. Including, as we predicted, Battle.net integration for PC.

“The Black Ops community means everything to us, so we knew in order to deliver something really special for our fans like Blackout, with the biggest map we’ve ever created in Call of Duty, we had to push ourselves and our tech to the absolute limits,” said Mark Gordon, Co-Studio Head, Treyarch. “The same goes for our PC community. They have inspired and fueled us to set a new standard on PC across every aspect from dedicated servers and security to full optimisation and polish that’s worthy of both Black Ops and Battle.net.”

This announcement came as part of the official Call of Duty Black Ops 4 reveal event held earlier today.
