The Ultima Underworld series is a classic in the minds of veteran PC gamers. Those that recall a time when playing a computer RPG still required the help of pen and paper. Underworld Ascendant comes from Paul Neurath and Warren Spector's OtherSide Entertainment so the talent is strong. Today's new trailer certainly looks cool, but there seems to be a slight problem.

In that the game seems to be running at a near-constant choppy frame-rate.

With a planned 2018 release there's certainly time to polish. The latest developer update on the project highlights the Improvisation Engine which is built around player choice and freedom to approach any obstacle or dungeon challenge in the manner that they see fit. Whether that's stealth, using the environment, or the power of magic spells.

It all sounds great, but again, looks extremely choppy in motion.
