Where thing includes video games, movies, television specials, comic books, and afternoons spent busking in the city with nothing but a bucket, a stick, and insane amounts of rhythm. A new financial report over at Market Watch notes that with over 90 million copies sold the "total haul" for GTA V sits somewhere in the realm of $6 billion USD. Which is, a lot.

Compared to single movie releases, like Star Wars or Avatar, it's no competition. GTA V wins. Even when compared to other Grand Theft Auto titles. Previous entry GTA IV - a blockbuster in its own right - only sold 25 million copies. Originally released in 2013 for PS3 and Xbox 360, GTA V still came in sixth-place in terms of overall sales in 2017 in the U.S. A long tail that many attribute to the success and continued support of GTA Online.

It's an interesting report that also features a number of quotes from the financial world, so check it out. Strangely, it doesn't seem to factor in micro-transactions or the whole phenomenon of continual revenue. GTA Online cash cards no doubt have added considerably to the profits of the title in recent years which probably puts the "total haul" higher than $6 billion.

Pretty cool. It is an amazing game. I really love it but I still think I prefer San Andreas because of the size & scope of it, but I still bust out GTA5 now and again just to marvel at its beauty.

There are few big brands I really get excited about any more but GTA is one of them.

With 90 million copies sold, that might be true
