we reported that the System Shock remake from Nightdive Studios was being put on hold due the size and scope of the project growing beyond the simple remake promised. With the developers taking responsibility that feature creep began to change the project from a System Shock remake into something else entirely.
Speaking with
PC Gamer, Nightdive has confirmed that the team is now looking to go back to the original Kickstarter promise of a System Shock remake. Except that it'll take a while.
"Our intention is to ship exactly the game that was promised, with as much of the features that were promised as we can, in a timeframe that will get it out as fast as we can. Our expectation is probably Q1 of 2020."
Nightdive Studios first brought its System Shock remake project to Kickstarter in July of 2016 where it quickly met its $900,000 USD funding goal.
