Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is officially in development at Ubisoft with multiple teams led by Massive Entertainment working on the sequel. Apart from news that it will run on an updated version of the impressive Snowdrop engine the key take away is that the team is "taking everything we learned over the past two years and applying it towards the sequel".

All of these new features and experiences have made our team better, too. We're nimbler and better prepared to take action based on feedback. And now, more than ever before, we have a clear vision of what's important and what continues to make The Division a special experience for so many people.

Which, is awesome because since its debut The Division has only gotten better with each new update. From the inclusion of a proper end-game to fun new modes and other optimisations added to the shoot and loot formula. In fact, if The Division 2 was to launch with its own version of the excellent Underground mode, detailed set items, and improved daily and weekly quests and tasks then it has every chance to outshine the original.

Our secret hope though is the introduction of proper factions, where you and a group of friends can pick and choose which post-viral outbreak gang of survivors to help in downtown Manhattan. Speaking of which, perhaps the big question is - where will The Division 2 take place? It kind of has to be New York City, because apart from the bland Tom Clancy line-up of survivors it was the city itself that stood out as the defining character of the first outing.

Expect to see a lot more at E3 in June. The announcement also highlights that the Xbox One X enhanced patch for The Division is coming very soon.
