State of Decay 2 has finally been given a firm release date for Xbox One and Windows 10 and will feature both a Standard Edition release and an Ultimate Edition release.

Both editions will be releasing on May 22, however, anyone who grabs the Ultimate Edition (RRP AUD$69.95) will get a four day early access head start on the game as well as access to two DLCs releasing at a later date and a code for State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition.

The Standard Edition will set you back just $20 less with an RRP AUD$49.95 price tag. If you pre-order either before May 21, you get some unspecified exclusive in-game items.
When we first set out to create State of Decay 2, we knew we wanted a true sequel that took everything fans loved from the first State of Decay and created a more dangerous and unpredictable world that allows players to engage with one another in co-op multiplayer to survive.

We’ve been diligently working to deliver on our vision, and today, we’re happy to announce that State of Decay 2 will launch on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC as an Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Game Pass title on May 22, 2018. State of Decay 2’s Standard Edition will be available for AUD$49.95 and fans can also purchase State of Decay 2: Ultimate Edition for AUD$69.95. State of Decay 2: Ultimate Edition includes 4 days early access beginning May 18, along with two add-on packs: “Independence Pack” and “Daybreak Pack” (available at a later release date) on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. The Ultimate Edition will also include a download token for a bonus copy of the console version State of Decay: Year-One Survival Edition.

State of Decay 2 can be pre-ordered starting today at your favourite retailer’s site or at the Microsoft Store through the following links: Standard Edition and Ultimate Edition. Gamers who pre-order between now and May 21 will also receive some exclusive in game pre-order items.
“Our goal is to build a long-term relationship with the State of Decay community and to foster deeper experiences with the franchise. We believe State of Decay 2 accomplishes this goal by immersing fans in the ultimate zombie survival fantasy, and we want to give more players the opportunity to join in and experience this unique game,” said Aaron Greenberg, General Manager of Games Marketing at Microsoft. “Whether you play as an Xbox Game Pass member, purchase the Standard Edition for $49.95, or the Ultimate Edition for $69.95 to get early access and additional content, you get a great game and a larger community to play State of Decay 2 with.”
The budget price of the game might seem a bit alarming and raises questions over longevity, but until now everything we've seen of the game at E3 and Gamescom has been really very promising, if zombies and survival are your thing.
