For many Red Dead Redemption 2 represents THE game for 2018, a new open world western from Rockstar that for the most part is still shrouded in secrecy. Outside of a few teaser trailers and screenshots. Today, Rockstar announced a release date - October 26, 2018. Sure, it might be later than expected but it's now time to officially start the countdown.

Alongside the announcement Rockstar also posted an apology, based on the understanding that Red Dead Redemption 2 was going to be out mid-year.

We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish.

We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it.

On the plus side, we've got a batch of amazing new screens.
