Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, famed game creator and one of the key programmers on the original Sonic the Hedgehog Yuji Naka has joined Square Enix. In a game development role. At Sega he was also instrumental in a number of other classics like Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Phantasy Stas and more.

Yuji Naka was also the head of Sonic Team until 2006 where he led development on just about every major Sonic title to that point.
