After the recent release of the new Necromancer class we didn't expect Diablo III to get any sort of major update for a while, especially not with the game moving from 2.6.0 to 2.6.1. But it looks like the next patch will be huge as it sets to balance a number of items and builds to bring them more in line with the end game.
Following the release of the Necromancer, the theme of this patch is (appropriately) balance. We’ve taken a top-down look across all class performance in Greater Rifts, and made several changes to bring as many gameplay styles as close in line to each other as possible. Targeting the most popular or requested builds, we started with Class sets, and you can expect buffs coming your way no matter which hero is your favorite.
Which also means buffs and changes to the Necromancer to make the less viable end-game builds useful. Plus, the re-introduction of classic Barbarian Whirlwind Build. Spin to win. Not only numerical, the changes will also affect how particular skills and items work, from changes to AoE and more.
There are so many changes incoming to various items and sets and even skills that next Season should prove to be pretty interesting when it comes to pushing higher Greater Rifts. With Season 11 finishing October 20 and Season 12 slated to begin November 9, Patch 2.6.1 should drop sometime between those dates.
The 2.6.1 Patch has been on the PTR for quite a while, and you can check out the latest revision of the Patch Notes
