If you've played through the excellent Tomb Raider from 2013, you'll no doubt get a sense of deja vu whilst watching this trailer for the new Lara Croft film. Which is also a reboot. And some slight confusion when you see that dude from The Wire, the robot girl from Ex Machina, and Boyd Crowder from Justified. Anyway, the source material update is a sound decision and some of what we see here could potentially, umm, end up as part of decent film.

Maybe.

It's hard to be too optimistic about movies based on games, so once again we'll wait and see.

Rise of the Tomb Raider Movie Without Angelina Jolie is due in cinemas Early 2018.

Vikander is a great actress, and that movie The Wave which the director did before this, I thought was really good. So I have high hopes!

Weird that the plot seems to be a mix of both the remake games.

Maybe they're not expecting to get the chance to make a sequel so use all the best bits now. Though I guess by the time they did make a sequel there will probably be another tomb raider game to draw from anyway
