It was only a matter of time, but boy was that quick. After recently surpassing over
1 million concurrent players on Steam - making it the second title ever to do so - over the weekend PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds broke the all-time record with 1,348,374 players PUBG-ing at the same time. Taking the crown from previous record holder Dota 2.
This is all according to
SteamCharts, which is known for it's accurate reporting of Steam player data. Dota 2's record of 1,291,328 players had been in place since March 2016. Throw in the fact that Dota 2 is both a Valve property and free-to-play, and PUBG's Early Access status and price-point, and this record becomes all the more impressive.
Now the question is, could it reach 2 million? And that's only because we don't want to see this whole thing stop here.
