Starting from 3:30 pm ACST today - because the PUBG development team are all about that South Australia time. Local Playerunknown's Battleground players have been asking for this for a while, so it's great to see first-person servers come, err, down under. As per the team's post, "about 20% of the entire Oceanic player base plays FPP on servers in other regions".

Which, judging by the game's popularity, is probably a lot.

Oh, and before now the developers have been pretty coy about adding local FPP DUO on OCE servers, even going so far as to state that there aren't enough players during certain times to warrant the effort. Turns out those times were in the middle of the night. South Australian night.

It has recently come to our attention that players in Oceania who enjoy first-person matches have been facing problems with high latency/ping as they had to resort to playing the game mode on Asia and NA servers. We apologize for how long it took us to address this issue.

One of our main concerns was the fact that it can affect the other group of players who do not play FPP. It has been proven by the data from other regions that we need at least 500 players for two game modes to ensure a reasonable matchmaking time. Currently, the number of concurrent users on OCE is sometimes lower than the threshold during certain times.

We have decided to introduce first-person only servers to DUO first to accommodate players who want to fully enjoy the first-person only experience. Please note that you may experience longer matchmaking time or find it difficult to quickly join a new game from 1:00 am to 12:00 pm ACST.

I found it quite amusing before FPP was out just how many people would complain about third-person in this game. They would get all worked up about it not being an option and how it's stupid to have a game like this without a FPP mode, yet they bought the early access knowing it didn't have one?

That said, reading the comments in any of the patch notes does not paint a good picture of gamers. They are certainty an entitled group of spoilt brats if you base it on the majority of comments!

We've been a bunch of whining f*** heads since someone thought it would be a good idea to let us use the Internet while slamming down caffeinated beverages and eating cold pizza.

You could change the view in 3rd person mode to FPP so I think a lot of people assumed it was just a case of locking down that option and calling it a day.

Loving the FPP servers, hoping they rank them soon.....and make me 3 inches taller. Managed to win 4 from 6 the other night and won 5-7 on the AS squads.
