The next big update coming to Windows 10 is due to roll-out on October 17, and like the recent Creators Update it will continue that trend with a focus on expanding all that good stuff. The Game Mode function for Xbox on Windows will be getting a number of enhancements as will the debut of Windows Mixed Reality. Which is, in case you forgot, the pretty exciting affordable VR solution for Window 10.

Outside of gaming expect the usual security fixes to come alongside the update, plus something called OneDrive Files On-Demand that means cloud storage won't require a local copy on your PC or laptop to function correctly.

For more info on the update, plus a look at some of the premium Windows 10 devices coming soon, head here.

And for more on Windows Mixed Reality, head here.

Going back to gaming, we should probably expect to see the big Fall update for the Xbox One around this time too. And as this is one of those "complete dash and UI re-design" updates that the Xbox platform seems to get every other year, we're definitely excited to check that out. But really, all of the above means we'll be weeks away from the launch of the Xbox One X.
