Released a year ago this week No Man's Sky has received another huge update. Called 'Atlas Rises' the update brings numerous changes and features to the game, including new story content that deals with a "mysterious new inter-dimensional race". Also, the update introduces a new rudimentary multiplayer mode. One that will pave the way for a robust and co-op No Man's Sky future.

Visualised by strange floating orbs, up to 16 players can see and communicate with one another, and explore the universe together.

While interaction with others is currently very limited, this is an important first step into the world of synchronous co-op in No Man’s Sky.

Throw in the new ability to fly in low orbit, new worlds, new ways to fast travel between worlds, improved space combat, trading, exploration, and the ability to terra-form a planet with a handy terrain gun, and developer Hello Games has certainly been very busy improving the overall No Man's Sky experience.

Will possibly pick this up in Steam Xmas sales and check it out. New Beyond Good and Evil and Star Citizen probably take over this genre after that. Good to see they're following through at least after making out like bandits on the 'alpha' initial release lol.
