And it's already been funded. Which, isn't all that surprising when you take one look at it. The design is clearly modeled after the sort of controllers we all use today, and does away with the three pronged approach of the classic Nintendo 64 controller. Which, although looked weird, was revolutionary in its use of an analogue stick for 3D movement, triggers, camera-specific controls and force feedback.

The only problem was that it looked like this.

Instead of this.

The Retro Fighters controller for N64 is currently being designed for use strictly with a Nintendo 64 console. Which means Memory Card and Rumble Pak compatibility. Very cool. As funding for the project already exceeding what was originally asked we should probably expect to see an additional USB version come in the near future.

Definitely needs to have USB cable. Play the old games on my PC instead of the N64 console I found on the side of the road one night.

WTF? There was nothing wrong with the N64 controller once you used it. At first glance, yes, it looked silly. If you actually used it for any length of time it actually worked incredibly well and had some thought put in to it.

Apart from the dead zone on the joystick, unreachable d-pad and left shoulder button and the tiny clunky c-buttons yeah it was pretty good once you got used to it.
