And, just like with yesterday's new game announcement from Valve, be sure to temper those expectation. It isn't Borderlands 3, which we assume is also in the works, but instead something called Project 1v1. Which is, according to the announcement, "the code name for Gearbox's top-secret, in-development, competitive first-person shooter that combines the action of fast-paced 1v1 first-person combat with the metagame strategy of a collectible card game".

Not much else is known other than that description and that a short Closed Technical Test is expected to kick off in the next month or so.

As someone who really isn't a fan of competitive shooters that aren't team-based and don't involve support roles where someone can run behind fellow teammates, I'm not sure what to make of this. Plus, the whole collectible card game approach probably means a form of Loot Box progression.

Either way, cool art.
