2015's Life is Strange was an excellent adventure game in the style of Telltale, it told a rich and engrossing character driven tale of a teenage girl coping with serious issues. And awesome sci-fi concepts. The prequel Life is Strange: Before the Storm launches on August 31 and shifts the perspective to another character, Chloe, as she deals with the aftermath of her father's death.

With the familiar faces and places, its hard not to look at the following gameplay demo and immediately want to dive back into the fictional world of Arcadia Bay.

But, it's also hard to shake the feeling that it might be pretty hard for a prequel to tell as interesting a story as Life is Strange. Especially if we don't get as much mind-bending sci-fi this time around.

The first of three episodes 'Awake' will release on August 31 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC (Steam).
