Player freedom and giving people the option to play how they want is always a nice addition, but with The Evil Within 2 the creators have gone to great lengths to ensure that all of that doesn't interfere with the survival horror part of the game. Which means that having an invincible Sebastian would kind of remove a lot of the survival and horror. Even so The Evil Within 2 will feature deep customisation and crafting.

Including the addition of Weapon Parts, used to upgrade your arsenal. They will join the Green Gel as found in the first game, which will be used to upgrade Sebastian himself with stuff like "recover more health from healing items" and "reduce reticle sway when firing weapons".
