Announced at BlizzCon 2016, as a way for regular players to both support Starcraft II esports and be rewarded with in-game goodies, the StarCraft II War Chest makes its debut on July 20. How does it work? Well, that's the cool part.
Again, this is an opt-in program for those looking to support the StarCraft II competitive scene. The War Chest will follow along with StarCraft II esports via a seasonal program giving players access to digital content including, comics, skins, decals, sprays, and chat emoticons. Players can purchase access to the War Chest for a specific race, or all three if you prefer, with content unlocking by playing StarCraft II multiplayer or co-op content.
If you're like me, and no good at StarCraft II multiplayer, you should definitely check out the co-op as its only gotten better and better after its debut with the release of Legacy of the Void. Where it was a lot of fun to begin with.
25% of each War Chest purchase will go towards supporting StarCraft II esports. And the first $200,000 USD raised of this season’s War Chest, will boost the prize pool for the WCS Global Finals at BlizzCon 2017.
