Ooh boy, ever since this was announced we've been itching to go back and replay the original StarCraft and StarCraft: Brood War campaigns. And not having played them since the days of dial-up internet, it'll be great to go back through the Terran, Zerg, and Protoss campaigns that kicked off one the genre's best told stories. That just so happens to a strategy masterpiece too.
Sporting brand new widescreen HD visuals and enhanced audio, StarCraft: Remastered is all set to be a lovingly recreation of one of the strategy genre's most defining moments when it launches August 15 for the very reasonable price of $21.95 AUD.
The remaster also updates the now legendary StarCraft multiplayer with new matchmaking features, player profiles, cloud save functionality for replays, and more!
“Nearly 20 years ago, StarCraft welcomed millions of gamers to an epic sci-fi universe—and also helped form the foundation for esports as we know it today,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “Passionate gamers around the world are still playing Brood War, both with friends and competitively, so we're modernising the technology behind StarCraft so that they can continue to enjoy the game for many years to come.”
Also, and this is very cool, you'll be able to switch between the old and new visuals via a press of the button.
