We all know that the Necromancer is coming sometime soon, but the upcoming 2.6.0 update to Diablo III will see the introduction of Challenge Rifts. Which are the game's version of competitive time trials, where a live build and rift completion is selected for everyone to have a crack at. In a new video going through the new mode, Challenge Rifts look to be a great addition to the game.

And one that we hope will spotlight a few of the more out there builds (like a 'Speed Chicken' Witch Doctor) in order to make it fun in addition to being competitive.

Challenge Rifts are a weekly static version of a previously completed Greater Rift. To create a Challenge Rift, we pull a Greater Rift run directly from a player’s account. Once we have that snapshot, we make that exact character, including their items, paragon levels, skills, and gear available for everyone to play.

What's cool is that there's a pre-Challenge Rift training area, where you can get a good look at the build, re-map buttons/keys, and then test it out against a few monsters. And the fact that if you beat the original time you get a cache full of crafting materials.

But best of all, it'll be a chance to play the game with already established characters and builds to get a better sense of what's possible. Head here for more info.
