And it looks pretty interesting, thanks to the fact that it lives up to its co-op only namesake by being a story-driven game that has only the one presentation style -- split-screen. The announcement game at EA Play earlier today as part of the publisher's push towards bringing indie titles to a larger audience, and comes from the studio behind Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons.

In terms of production values the cinematic qualities we can see the announcement trailer below are far above what you might consider traditional indie fare. Set in the '70s the story looks to also extend beyond the actual prison break as we also get to see scenes in a more rural environment. And some car chases to boot.

How this all works as a split-screen only game is fascinating. In the gameplay demonstration below, not only do we see the usual split-screen stuff of two perspectives for the same situation, but a dynamic shift in focus that means cinematic sequences can either occupy a larger portion of the screen for one player.

A Way Out will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in Early 2018.
