It's that time of the year again, where hype takes over the logic and reason sections of our brains as we gear up for another E3 spectacular. What will E3 2017 have in store for us? A glimpse at the next Metroid? Perhaps the unveiling of a new 8K capable console playing the next Elder Scrolls game? These are but a few of the dreams of what could be, so here are the times for the Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, Bethesda, and PC Gaming showcases.
Presented in HD, 7.1 DTS-HD AEST format. Err, Australian times.
Sunday, June 11
Electronic Arts (EA)
When: 5:00am AEST
What to Expect: Well probably a look at some sports for starters, you've got your soccer with FIFA and your Football American Style with Madden. Plus the next chapter in the Need For Speed Chronicles. But, you can probably expect the big highlight (probably the opener or closer) to be an in-depth look at Star Wars Battlefront II.
Hype Train Prediction: The reveal of BioWare's latest game, the one that they've been working on for ages and has been compared by some to Destiny.
Monday, June 12
Microsoft
When: 7:00am AEST
What to Expect: Price, look, and availability for company's super-powered Xbox we still call Project Scorpio. Announced this time last year, expect a showcase of upcoming Xbox titles that will look better on Scorpio. Plus, more Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3, and State of Decay 2. And probably some new stuff too.
Hype Train Prediction: Microsoft bring out Bill Gates and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson to lift a cloth uncovering the sleek new Project Scorpio, telling us its real name -- The Microsoft Xbox One Plus. And then it'll start talking.
Bethesda
When: 2:00pm AEST
What to Expect: Although it hasn't officially been announced we can probably expect to see the next installment in the excellent Wolfenstein reboot. Plus more info on Quake Champions, Fallout 4 VR, and Elder Scrolls love in the form of Legends and Online.
Hype Train Prediction: A new Fallout ala New Vegas built off the Fallout 4 engine, developed by a new studio. It'll be called Fall Out: New Orleans and will feature gators that will give Deathclaws a run for their money. Also, a look at a brand new IP from Bethesda Game Studios. Plus, The Evil Within 2.
Tuesday, June 13
PC Gaming Show
When: 3:00am AEST
What to Expect: The PC Gaming Show has a very different feel to the rest of the E3 conferences. For one it's run by PC Gamer and partners with developers and hardware makers giving them the opportunity to showcase and announce upcoming PC-related stuff. In the past the show has taken on an almost late night talk show like approach, with in-depth interviews, gameplay demos, and lengthy trailers.
Hype Train Prediction: This is a hard one, but here goes. Double Fine take the stage to announce that they're remastering Sam n' Max Hit the Road. Because, and you can chalk this up to facts obtained from a book titled Historical Facts, it's the far superior game to Full Throttle and Day fo the Tentacle. Also, a release date for both Star Citizen and Squadron 42.
Ubisoft
When: 6:00am AEST
What to Expect: Far Cry 5! Assassin's Creed Origins! One of which was recently announced via an evocative poster and teaser trailer. The other, a picture of a t-shirt. Either way you should probably expect to see a lot more on both games. No doubt Ubisoft will have more to show, perhaps another look at South Park: The Fractured But Whole, and some smaller offerings.
Hype Train Prediction: Although we've been told it won't be shown, there's no stopping the hype train for Beyond Good & Evil 2.
Sony
When: 11:00am AEST
What to Expect: Sony always put on a great show, with intricately designed gameplay demos that serve as both first-looks at upcoming exclusives whilst also providing many 'wow, gaming has come a long way' moments. Last year we got to see God of War, Days Gone and The Last of Us Part 2. We should probably expect to see more on these at E3 2017.
Hype Train Prediction: In an extended demo we get our first proper look at the Final Fantasy VII remake. Also, Hideo Kojima takes the stage to showcase a gameplay section from his upcoming Death Stranding that makes total sense. Okay, so maybe not that last bit.
Wednesday, June 14
Nintendo
When: 2:00am AEST
What to Expect: Foregoing the auditorium spectacle in lieu of a pre-recorded broadcat, Nintendo's E3 presentation will most likely focus heavily on the recently released Nintendo Switch. In particular, a focus on this holiday's big release -- Super Mario Odyssey.
Hype Train Prediction: Metroid Prime.

Oooh, that would be so good. Or maybe even a new 2D Metroid? We're not picky.

Soon you'll be talking about how easy kids have it these days and how lazy they are and how back in your day we were all happier with LANS and kids don't know what they are missing and you had to walk butt naked through 10 Miles of snow, uphill, just to play at one.

"For my ally is the HYPE, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the HYPE around you."

Yes we are. I don't want another Federation Force :) A big exploratory style Metroid game would be great, 2d or 3d.
