Or, if you were so inclined, rednecks. Breaking from the norm of featuring a cast of minorities as the bad guys, Far Cry 5's move to the continental US of A, Montana to be precise, looks to have switched up the tone of the portrayal of its antagonists. White people! The cover art, which recreates a more sinister version of The Last Supper, hints at a possible religious bent for the villains. Which would be an interesting direction to take the series.

And a somewhat bold one if it specifically deals with Christian extremism. If you look closely at the picture you'll see that the traditional cross has been replaced by an approximation, so this will probably be a fictional religion. Which is perfectly fine for a series like Far Cry.

We'll probably learn a lot more when the trailer drops tomorrow, but in the meantime this picture certainly raises a lot of questions about Far Cry 5. Mostly of the "can we see it action please" variety.

I'm getting a very much 'True Detective' type of Deep South vibe from this already, which is a good thing, I loved the first series of True Detective. It made me discover and become a fan of the awesome band, The Handsome Family!

True Detective Season 1 was some gooooood s***. This does remind me of that and kind of Fargo.

My prediction, according to the girl in the picture is that we will probably be saving her from forced marriage or something. Judging by the fact she is wearing a white dress (wedding dress?) and holding a flower which some dude has his hand stretched out for. Look forward to seeing more trailers and stuff.

Trailers are up, looks interesting. I hope it does more than just the usual formula though.

And kudos to whoever decided to lead with that image, the controversy it generated was fun to watch.

The setup for that pic is very much 'Last Supper' don't you think? Even the bread and wine are on the table....but which one of them is the Judas? :)

That's a good angle, Psycho. Didn't think of that, would be interesting if there is a traitor in their midst that you have to help.

The doggy is the Judas. He will sell them all out for a nice porterhouse steak.

Yes mate it is so based on the last supper. Check the hand and finger being held up in question by the guy to the rear of Jesus's left shoulder. Check the guy in the Far Cry pic, to the rear of the guys left shoulder. Exactly same position. Coincidence? I don't think so, whoever did the pic has used some aspects of the Lats Supper for sure. Which means that a traitor is probably in the pic, as was Judas.

But there were no women at the Last Supper, while the Farcry picture has one. Those present were Peter, Andrew, James, John, Mathew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, James, Judas, Jude, Simon and of course Jesus.

Yeh, I know, I said they have used aspects of the image. Its obvious. And dont forget JC had a hoe in his crew too ya know, Mary Magdaline, she was probably out back making sandwiches when Leonardo did the painting. :)

Its also interesting to notice that the Far Cry image has the actors in groups of three, this is something that Leonardo did in the original, indicating the 'Trinity' in the Religious belief...the three windows in the rear of the original, the apostles in groups of three. The guy to his left is spreading his arms with chains as was the original the apostle spreading his arms in alarm and holding back the two behind in questioned disbelief. I know a lot about this s*** for an atheist.!! I've also seen the original Mosaic painting in Italy and its a big bastard let me tell ya. :)

There is also someone off to the right of the female as you can see their outstretched hands, it would not surprise me to see the complete picture actually having 12 people in it and even being more related to the last supper.

Cheers Ravnos. That just nails it for me, definitely a 'Last Supper' inspired image. 12 followers, in groups of three, all of them in the same positions of the original painting. We can even allude to whom the traitor is by Judas's position in the original. In the Far Cry pic it would be beadred dude in the front with the SMG and his hand out. Also interesting that he has silver bullets (30 pieces of silver) in front of him, and only the bullets in front of him are silver, all others a normal rounds. Quite well done when you think of it. I'll have to keep an eye out for him in the game if I play it. :)

Notice too the 3rd person from the left? In handcuffs wearing a US Marshals vest. My thoughts of the traitor though make me think of the "sinner" on the ground in front of the table perhaps?
