And it's definitely channeling the look and feel of Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers. Developed by Sledgehammer Games, Call of Duty: WWII takes the series back to its roots with a campaign and setting during World War II. The reveal trailer, which is made up of in-game footage, certainly looks good. It's been such a long time since the last Call of Duty took place in this era that it somehow looks fresh. D-Day recreation and all.

Check it out.

Call of Duty: WWII takes the franchise back to its roots in a bold cinematic experience that captures the unforgettable heroism of the soldiers who fought together in a war that changed the world forever.  Activision’s gripping new title is an honest portrayal of World War II from the perspective of the famed 1st Infantry Division, with an ensemble cast of global and diverse characters. Through stunning visuals and intense audio, players storm the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, march across France to liberate Paris and ultimately push forward into Germany in some of the most monumental battles of all-time.

In addition to the campaign the multiplayer is touted as featuring authentic weapons and equipment from the era across multiple European locations. Which could prove to be a big change compared to the wall-running future-tech of recent Call of Duty games.

What do you think, excited to go back to the past for the next Call of Duty? Let us know in the comments.

Just watched the original reveal trailer for the original Call of Duty, man, it's come a long way! I've never played these games for the MP, always only the SP which I've found really enjoyable. I do wish however that they would release two versions of the game so that way it'd be a bit cheaper if it was only the SP you wanted to experience. Either way, pretty pumped, it looks great.

Thats a cool idea, I'm the same, not really interested in the multiplayer but the single player campaigns are good for a few hours of fun shooting s*** up. With the campaigns in CoD games though usually only being 6 hours or so long, I find it hard to justify buying any of them at full price. If I could drop maybe $30 though and just get the single player portion, I'd be totally up for that.

I didn't play Infinite Warfare, but it seems to get s*** on a lot, was it really that bad or was it just a case of that it had moved too far away from what people wanted from a CoD game? Cos to me, from trailers and stuff at least, I thought it looked pretty cool, I thought all the sci-fi and space stuff was more interesting than most of the same old modern warfare stuff they had been doing for years now. I guess it was straying pretty far from CoD's roots though so I'm wondering if thats where all the hate came from, or if it was just a bad game.

the problem is that cod was born out of ww2 fps. the scifi s*** is done elsewhere, and tbh the original cod player-base (boring or not) wanted more of the same. cod4:mw i played the s*** out of too because it had the same basic fps feel. then the next versions were wtf mate.
