Okay, so we all know how a New Game Plus mode works. Finish a game and restart with all of your upgrades and ability unlocks. Standard stuff. When news broke that Dishonored 2 was getting a New Game Plus mode as part of a free update we were like, "Okay, sure. Of course." But the devil is in the details. Or in this case, the awesome is in the details. As Dishonored 2's New Game Plus will let you start anew as either Corvo or Emily and, get this, combine their abilities!

Yeah, that means the door marked "Let's Go Crazy With the Combos and What Nots" will open up, paving the way for Emily’s Mesmerize with Corvo’s Devouring Swarm to become part of your standard taking down of the bad dudes arsenal.

Sounds pretty cool.

“Dishonored players have asked for it, so now New Game Plus is here for Dishonored 2,” says Creative Director Harvey Smith. “If you've ever wanted to make higher-powered characters, now's your chance. If you've wanted to play Emily Kaldwin with Possession or Devouring Swarm, or Corvo Attano with Domino, now you can. We've been having fun with it here at Arkane Studios, and we hope you will too.”

The update will also fix some lingering issues with the game, including performance and optimisation improvements. A second free update is also planned for January that will introduce Mission Select and additional Custom Difficulty Settings to the game. Again, we're tempted to say "Okay, sure. Of course", but we should probably expect a few cool twists.
