And how it was very much more in line with the scripted cinematic feel of something like Call of Duty as opposed to the studio's earlier efforts -- including the first two Doom games. All of this and more is revealed in a fascinating new crowdfunded documentary called DOOM Resurrected. Part One 'To Hell & Back' is online now and offers an intimate and insightful look at the long gap between DOOM 3 and 2016's DOOM.

Check it out. Its great, and you wont regret it. In fact there's a 99.99% chance you'll fire up DOOM once it's over.

Part two of the documentary is expected to drop tomorrow.
