As 2016 year comes to a close, and we all prepare for the inevitable return of the Y2K bug (the late '90s are hot right now so you just know it's coming), we're also entering award season. That time of year where awards are handed out to good stuff to remind them that they are good. Annual video game awards are a pretty common thing now and to bolster its community focus Valve are introducing The Steam Awards. Where the Steam Community gets to decide on not only the winners, but the nominees.

If you're thinking words like prestige, tuxedo, or Billy Crystal, then you might be off the mark. Judging by the categories, The Steam Awards looks to be more MTV than Academy of Motion Pictures. With categories like 'The “I'm Not Crying, There's Something In My Eye” Award', for games that touched you. Emotionally. And 'The “Game Within A Game” Award' for the best mini game inside a bigger game.

It actually looks like it could be a lot of fun. So to find out more and begin submitting your picks head here.

In other Steam related news, the Steam Autumn Sale has begun. And naturally, there a few great deals. Like 75% off Cities: Skylines and Just Cause 3. And 67% off Fallout 4.
