Mostly affecting those with rigs powerful enough to run the game at 'Ultra' settings, the first substantial patch for Battlefield 1 seems to be affecting performance in a negative way. In that certain effects and filters seem to be broken with the visuals looking more 'Medium' than 'Ultra'. Naturally, this has left quite the sour taste in some players mouths, as this lengthy forum thread covers.

As per a forum moderator DICE are now aware of the issue and looking to resolve it as quick as possible.

It's been pretty fine for me. I'll pay more close attention next time I am on and see if I notice anything.

It's ok, they'll have it all sorted in about a year. Right around the time the next battlefield game comes out and everyone's forgotten about bf1.
