What's a PlayStation Now you might be asking? Well, its a streaming service that allows you to play over 400 PlayStation 3 games including Uncharted, The Last of Us, God of War, and more. Assuming that you live in the US or Europe, because it's not available in Australia. But hey, it's coming to Windows PCs in the near future which is a pretty big deal. In those countries that aren't Australia. But, as a consolation prize we will be getting a DualShock 4 adapter for PC on our shores.

The adaptor will be available from select retailers across Australia from September 16 for $34.95 AUD.

So... it's a bluetooth dongle?

Pity the controller sux... there would be not reason to buy it unless you could access PS Now

I got super excited by this for a second because I thought it meant Sony had discovered Steam and realised they could port some of their popular back catalog and make a huge amount of money selling games like The Last of Us to people like me who are probably never going to buy a console. It's still kind of cool I guess.

Yeah, we probably won't see PlayStation Now for a while but who knows. And yeh Raven it's a dongle, but it also means official drivers which means an alternative to the Xbox pad on PC.

Not sure why they can't just provide drivers sans-dongle, currently Spook most features are fine, except for things like the Trackpad etc. Also, the Bluetooth stack on Win7 is abysmal. Sony are claiming 100% support with the dongle, hopefully with XInput support but probably only in PSNow I'll wager. Hopefully any Bluetooth dongle will do, using Sonys drivers... or a hack can be produced. I'm still running Win7 so I'll probably grab one.

And the price for PS Now streaming is completely stupid - The Brits are being asked to pay $22.50 AUD a month for the privilege of streaming those games.

it's basically their own version of Steam though, they could release this as a client side app and load the content all client side instead of streaming the games, which would need some huge GPU power in the datacentre to run all those streams

probably why it costs so much, it's just like renting a console-in-the-cloud instead of having it sitting next to your TV

This is different in that it
a) Costs $35.
b) Is probably locked down in a proprietary way so you can only use it how they say.
c) Is proprietary so won't work with other devices.
