When Microsoft announced the new slimline Xbox One S, the company was quick to point out that outside of 4K video support and HDR capabilities the console would offer identical performance to the current Xbox One system. In a new report over at
Digital Foundry it looks like the Xbox One S features an overclocked GPU that brings with it some performance improvements to Xbox One games.
An ever so slight performance boost that performs in a similar manner to factory overclocked cards in the PC market. In detailed report, which you can
read here, tests show that for titles where the Xbox One may have struggled to maintain a steady 30fps in certain games like Rise of the Tomb Raider, the new Xbox One S performs in a more stable fashion. With the best improvements tapping out at a 9fps increase (with Project Cars). This is all due to the increased GPU clock-speed of 914MHz, up from 853MHz. And increased ESRAM bandwidth.
