One of the highlights from Microsoft's E3 presentation was the section of gameplay from Compulsion Games' We Happy Few. An intriguing game set in a dystopian 1960s England where people take Joy pills to make the world look bright and colourful. Don't take them and you're labelled a Downer. There's a hint of BioShock to the visual aesthetic, and the premise and art alone should be enough to get you interested.
Although what we have seen on the game, and in the new trailer below, hint at a very controlled interactive narrative, We Happy Few features a procedurally generated world that is intended to be experienced over and over with multiple characters. And at its core is more of a survival game than story-driven one. It definitely sounds cool and something that we'll be checking out.
Here's a new gameplay trailer to accompany the Early Access debut of We Happy Few.
At this stage the full release probably won't be this year, and the Early Access version of the game will not contain any of the big story elements. you can grab the game now from Steam, GOG.com, and the Xbox One store.
