With Nintendo doing its own thing by streaming a presentation that would only feature one non-handheld game, and no news or info about its mysterious NX console due for release in March next year, you might question why they would even bother. But the game in question is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo NX, a new open world entry in the series that looks like a genuine departure for the series. And a fantastic looking one to boot.
Or at the very least the most Witcher-like Zelda ever made, with vast open areas and campfires and boars and monsters to fight. Yeah, that might be standard Zelda fare when you think about it, but the large areas we get to see in the following trailer are huge. And the sense of Link being on his own, surviving the wilderness is real. Plus, that image of Link climbing a rock-face and then zooming out to show that it's a pretty huge mountain? Impressive stuff. The Legend of Zelda is back! ... sometime next year.
