In a bit of a surprise announcement it turns out that Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind Titanfall (and the sequel due later this year), are also working on new Star Wars game. As part of the May the 4th dealy, which is based around the idea that it's Star Wars Day because it sorta rhymes with 'May the Force be with you', EA made the announcement. Right alongside reiterating its commitment to working on a number of different Star Wars projects.

As to what sort of game it will be, all we know so far is that it's a third-person action-adventure game set in the Star Wars universe. Patrick Söderlund, Executive Vice President of EA Studios made the announcement.

There’s never been a better time to be a Star Wars fan. The passion we’re seeing for Star Wars from gamers – whether they’ve been along for the ride since Star Wars™: Episode IV: A New Hope™, or were introduced to the magic of Star Wars with Star Wars™: The Force Awakens™ – is fueling our development teams and our partners to create unique interactive extensions of this deep, meaningful universe. As a game maker, nothing is more exciting.

Speaking of third-person action adventure games set in the Star Wars universe, the flawed but still very cool Star Wars Shadows of the Empire is now available on GOG.com

Played the s*** out of Shadows of the empire on my N64 back in the day, Pod Racer too, Would be cool if they made a new Pod Racer. But perhaps they don't want to visit that for fear of people whining about the prequels.
