With no word about any new substantial Destiny content coming out of Camp Bungie since the release of last year's The Taken King expansion, Activision released some information about the future of the online shooter franchise during its latest financial report. In addition to numbers and figures showcasing the publisher's many successes, the report also included information about the future of its key franchises.

Outside of confirmation that we'll be getting another Call of Duty game this year, which is basically a given at this point for the yearly franchise, it looks like Destiny 2 won't be out until sometime in 2017. The sequel to the popular online shooter was originally rumoured to be out later this year, but now it looks like that won't be happening. In its place is a "large new expansion", but as to what that will contain is anyone's guess. Probably a new Raid, additional Strikes, and a new planetary body to explore.

Not sure, but I don't think anyone cares?

But thanks all the same (don't want to come across rude).

No group finder for raids has to go down as the biggest game breaking call ever. What person with a career and family has like minded friends all online at the same time to run a 2 hour plus raid?? Its too late now, im off to The Division but bloody hell, put the random group finder in as option at least for those with a life.

I run multiple raids on Destiny every week, we more often than not have to run multiple times as we have too many people wanting to run them. Head over to the whirlpool destiny threads if you're looking for people to run with.

Plenty of destiny LFG apps and sites out there, can't say I've ever had an issue finding a group to raid with.

Yeah, there really should have been some ingame solution for it though, I don't want to have to jump out to external websites and then add random strangers as friends on my PSN account just to get into a raid. Shouldn't have to be jumping out to a website for that (and a 3rd party website at that, not even any sort of official solution thats in any way integrated with the game).

They wanted to make their shooter into an MMO, but then they forgot about huge chunks of important stuff like any sort of real ingame support for guilds or a group finding system.

you know why they dont bother with real time matchmaking queue systems for non subscription games?

because its a non trivial component in terms of integration and maintenance. yeah its nice when theyre there, but usually its only ever really there if the game is subscriber or has micro transaction for progress incentive

They already do matchmaking for the strikes and pvp though, its not like its above and beyond what the game already does.

But hell, it doesn't even need to be full blown matchmaking, just something like WoW's premade group finder would be fine. People can start a group and post themselves as looking for more, then other people can see all the groups for different things that are forming and apply to join them. The person who started the group gets a notification, can inspect the person's gear and achievements, and choose whether or not to accept them to the group. Or even take it a step furthur and allow players to flag themselves as "Looking for group" and people who've made groups can search for other people who are looking for group flagged for the same thing they want to do. Basic, basic stuff. Barebones stuff that other MMO's had 10 years ago.
