In a recent interview with Forbes, Lead Writer on Titanfall Jesse Stern has revealed that the in-the-works sequel will feature a story-driven single-player mode. One that will retell "the story of the American Revolution and the American Civil War in space". Which, does sound very cool. Especially when you factor in large planetary excavation and construction ships being fashioned into hulking machines of war. Also, a TV spin-off is in development.
Although no details were given as to the status of the TV project in the
interview, it certainly sounds like the sort of concept that, if translated well, could result in a compelling bit of sci-fi.
So we are doing our best to deliver a vision of grand global colonial warfare retelling the story of the American Revolution and the American Civil War in space. We imagined the next generation of immigrants moving out to the new frontier of an inhabitable planet. Rather than taking a traditional sci-fi approach to that we wanted to look at how that would happen practically, what the ships would look like and with machines that were designed for excavation and construction , demolition and working the land, and what happens when they are turned into instruments of war.
As per the original the main draw to Titanfall 2 will of course be the multiplayer, which Jesse Stern notes will be better than ever. And with the game now going multi-platform (the original was an Xbox One exclusive) Titanfall 2 should find a bigger audience this time around.
