In a clear homage to DICE's classic World War II: The Second One multiplayer classic Battlefield 1942, and the never-released but something that was always talked about sequel, comes Battalion 1944. A new project from Bulk Head Interactive that aims to bring the classic WWII-themed shooter from years ago into the modern age. Running on Unreal Engine 4 and targeting both PC and current-gen consoles, Battalion 1944 is already pushing all the right buttons.
For one, even though the WWII-set shooter may have seen more than its fair share of releases over the years, it has been a while since the time-period has gotten some serious FPS-love. In addition to the setting, the focus for Battalion is clearly on providing intense, infantry-focused, skill-based competitive action.
Even though the project is still very early in development, with completion reliant on a successful crowdfunding campaign, early footage is still pretty impressive.
It certainly looks and feels like a modern, visually impressive take on the classic Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, and Battlefield of old.
I am not sick of WW2 shooters, Im sick of modern/near future ones. We have had a metric ton of them for the past 14 years. This looks alright but I, like Everlong, wish for a remake or sequel to BF1942.
