From we've seen of the title so far there's been a lot of focus on the presentation and how great the vehicles and environments look up close in Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak. Which is all well and good, but for an RTS most of the time units will be viewed as part of an army. And from way, way back. In a new video showcasing one of the multiplayer modes in the game, we get to see just that. And the results look very good.

Check it out.

Although this Homeworld lives up to its title by being planet-based, the 3D nature of the terrain plays an important role not only in battle but in general strategy. Plus, the presentation features more than one callback to the RTS classic. The mode on display, called Artefact Hunt, definitely calls for a mix of scouting, planning, and defense, and it all looks great. For RTS fans this is probably one you won't want to miss out on. Which has nothing to do with the fact that new entries in this beloved genre are becoming as scarce and barren as the sand dunes we see here.

Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak is out January 21, and if you pre-order the game on Steam you get a free copy of the recently released Homeworld Remastered.
