As Rock Band and Guitar Hero stand poised to resurrect their battle of the bands competition, the former IP has just announced the inclusion of a big name to headline some potential interest from rock enthusiasts: U2. The Irish rock group that's been around for almost 40 years (seriously) has never had its music in a game before, which makes Rock Band 4 the debut appearance for the old rockers. But there's a catch.

Those hoping to rock out to some of U2's bigger hits should stop holding their breath. Rock Band 4 will feature two tracks from U2, one of which is pulled from the band's latest album, Songs of Innocence, and the other from their first album, Boy. The tracks are Cedarwood Road, and I Will Follow, respectively.

In fairness, neither song is terrible, but nor are they the first tracks that spring to mind when you're thinking about U2's better tracks. Personally, I'd prefer to rock out to Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me, or Desire. You can check out a preview of the U2 songs in familiar Rock Band highway form in the video below.

Rock Band 4 releases on the 6th of Roctober.

Shame its not good U2, hard to believe the band that puts out generic pop s*** used for itunes ads these days is the same band that did Sunday Bloody Sunday.

Yeah, I'm with you. I was excited when I read U2, then my face dropped when I read the two tracks. Fingers crossed they do some DLC.

I've got an order down on RB from amazon. Ended up being $140 cheaper than buying the kit from here.
