Blizzard Reveal it'll be Revealing a New World of Warcraft Expansion at Gamescom Next Week

Blizzard has sent a note letting everyone know they'll be announcing a new expansion for World of Warcraft at this year's Gamescom, which takes place next week.

I'll be there this year for AusGamers and will also have a chance to chat with some of the World of Warcraft peeps on the ground, so once everything is known, can I suggest jumping into here and dropping your in-depth questions so I can get them answered.

There is already a dedicated Gamescom reveal page for the announcement, which will be happening on August 7 at 2am AEST, and below you'll see an accompanying image, which I'm sure a lot of you will be able to extract some info from.

Any thoughts or speculation on what it's going to be?

Speaking of WoW I got my Predator title Tuesday nite. I waited for the the server restarts and managed to get to Xemikol before anyone else.

Didn't the say in an interview some time ago that the next expansion was tightly linked with the story of this one? In the sense that Warlords of Draenor is really part one of a two-part story.

So I imagine it's dealing with the fallout over the events of the end of this expansion. Possibly taking it back up to the Burning Legion.

I hope it's not burning legion themed. I'm sorta over seeing all the fel green color from Tanaan. It needs to be something fresh and not have any orcs.

Aww man. Just as I go back to uni to do a graduate diploma.. Least I am doing a little less stressful field of study these days. I hope they make Gilneas a working capital :)

I haven't played in 2 years but still I am amazed that wow still has such a large sub base despite blizzard getting the game and making it soo casual you might as well be playing a mobile game.

Thats probably the reason WHY it has such a large sub base. As Wildstar found out the hard way, the 'hardcore' players constitute a very small percentage of the population, the more casual players are the majority, they're the ones that pay the bills. WoW does a pretty good job of appealing to a broad cross section of players though, stuff for the more casual players and then at the other end of the scale, stuff like mythic raiding. This most recent expansion has been pretty light on content though, thats the main criticism they need to address in the next one. Fantastic raids though, Blackrock Foundry and Hellfire Citadel are probably two of the best they've ever made.

If WoW was hardcore I wouldn't play it I just wouldn't have time, I'm on a few hours a week and I want to be able to experience all the raids etc sorry for ruining your hardcore experience but I have a life
