A brand new game from Rare that isn't Kinect-related is not only well overdue, but something we haven't seen for a long, long time. With today's announcement of Sea of Thieves for Xbox One, Rare are back, and they've returned in style. A multiplayer online pirate adventure game, the debut trailer for Sea of Thieves definitely buckles all the right swashes. And in all the right places.

From this trailer, which was captured using in-game footage we can see a little tropical island exploration, some walking the plank, and bombastic ship-to-ship multiplayer battles. The art style is vibrant to say the least, and the water effects (and underwater sea creatures for that matter) look fantastic to boot.

Batten down the hatches, xxFriedEggs48xx!

Sea of Thieves is due for release 2016.

This looks interesting - I wonder how the social aspect works considering they were walking a player to the plank. Hopefully similar to a DayZ or something.

"multiplayer online"

Are there any worse words in our language that brings such disappointment to a gamer?
